Dr. Richard B. Krzyzak
Dr. Krzyzak is a graduate of Syracuse University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has been in practice for 35 years. He specializes in difficult to fit contact lens patients and is certified in the treatment and management of eye disease. He is a member of the Central New York, New York State, and American Optometric Association.
Dr. Michael S. Krzyzak
Dr. Michael Krzyzak received his B.S. in Biology from the University of Arizona and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He has been in practice for 13 years. He is certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. Dr. Krzyzak is passionate about treating dry eye disease and glaucoma, using the latest in technology to assist in both diagnosis and treatment. He is a member of the National Glaucoma Society, College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), Central New York Optometric Association, and American Optometric Association (AOA).
Dr. Jennifer L. Ashens
Dr. Jennifer L. Ashens graduated from Le Moyne College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry. She completed her optometric education from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she earned her Doctor of Optometry with clinical honors. She has emphasized clinical experience in specialty contact lenses from The Eye Institute in Philadelphia, PA, where she was awarded the Conforma Laboratory Award of Excellence in recognition of outstanding academic and clinical performance in contact lens design and management.
Dr. Ashens is a member of the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society, New York and American Optometric Association
Born and raised in North Syracuse, Dr. Ashens is excited to be able to serve the community she has called home for so long. She has a down-to-earth, personable approach with her patients that provides a safe space for all. She is passionate about educating her patients, so they feel confident in their eye care decisions.
During leisure time, Dr. Ashens enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs (dachshunds Nico & Willa). She also enjoys a good thriller book, concert going, collecting/playing retro video games, and seeking out unique coffee shops.
Fun fact! Dr. Ashens got her first eye exam when she was in the 3rd grade with Dr. Richard Krzyzak!
Rachel Somers, OTA
Rachel joined the Krzyzak Eyecare family in November 2019. She is a certified and licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant as of August 2019. She is an active member of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association. Prior, Rachel obtained her bachelors degree in elementary education in 2009. She has been working with children for 10 years and has developed a true passion in vision therapy. We are happy to have her as a part of our vision therapy team!
Tiffany Smith, LMT, M.A.
Tiffany joined our practice in June of 2023. She is a graduate of the Continental School of Beauty and a New York State licensed Esthetician. She is also licensed in massage therapy and has over 10 years of experience.
Tiffany is a Central New York native. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She has a passion for fitness and completed the Lake Placid Ironman.
